Page layout can play an important role in the ease of use and comprehension of your website. Some important factors to consider are:

• Minimize the load on your user's memory by making objects and options visible. Do not require the user to remember information from one part of the website to the other.
• Place navigation in consistent locations on each of your pages as well as other important information.
• Establish level of importance by placing important items at top center.
• Use of whitespace (the absence of text and graphics) between paragraphs and in the left and right margins will increase comprehension, but limit this on pages used for scanning and searching.
• Avoid cluttered displays.
