Explanations of Usability Violations

Poor Usability #1 Violations:

  • Using blue, underlined font.
  • Using abbreviations and/or inappropriate language.
  • Using all capital letters.
  • Inappropriate and confusing use of headings.

Poor Usability #2 Violations:

  • Hyphenating words on more than two consecutive lines.
  • Excessive number of words in sentences and sentences in paragraphs.
  • Lack of white space.
  • Providing a lot of information in a long paragraph instead of bullet points.

Poor Usability #3 Violations:

  • Font color is difficult to read.
  • Font color will not show up well when printing.
  • Mentions "recent" event that will need to be frequently updated and can be confusing.

Poor Usability #4 Violations:

  • Use of distracting graphics.
  • Important information is at the bottom of the page and difficult to find.
  • Inappropriate content for a professional website.
